Choose Your Quest Is Now on Kobo — and Book One Is Free
Some news I’ve been looking forward to sharing: Choose Your Quest is now on Kobo.
And I’ve made the first book in the series — the very first book I ever wrote — completely free there.
Start where the series started
Choose Your Quest to Mental Resilience drops you into the 17th century. You wake in an unfamiliar room. There’s a shadow watching you from across the distance. What you do next is up to you, and the story bends around that choice, and the next one, and the one after that.
It’s an interactive gamebook — you’re the main character, you make the decisions, and there are multiple endings to find. Woven through it are evidence-based resilience strategies, the same ones I’ve spent years discussing with patients as a family physician. Not as a lecture. As part of the story.
One reader on Goodreads wrote that it was exactly like the choose-your-own-path books she read as a kid, and asked me to please make more. I did. Nine more series, in fact. But this is where it began.
Why Kobo
A few reasons this store suits what I’m building.
Your book is actually yours. Every Kobo edition of my work is DRM-free. Download the EPUB, keep it, back it up, read it on whatever device you own — a Kobo eReader, your phone, a tablet, your laptop, or a Kindle after a quick conversion. Nobody can reach into your library and take a book back.
It reads everywhere. The free Kobo app runs on iOS, Android, desktop and the web. You don’t need to own a Kobo device to read a Kobo book.
It’s genuinely global. Kobo serves readers in nearly 200 countries, which matters to me — my readers write to me from places that don’t always get served first.
The illustrations survive the trip. These are illustrated books. Kobo’s EPUB handling keeps the colour artwork intact, which isn’t a given everywhere.
What’s coming to Kobo next
I’m moving the catalogue across in waves. Over the coming weeks you’ll see more of the Choose Your Quest interactive gamebooks, the 444+ Fun Facts for Kids series, and the clean family reads — including the newest one, a dad-and-daughter story called Daddy, You’re My Hero.
If there’s a particular title you want moved up the queue, reply to my newsletter and tell me. I read every message.
One small favour
If you download the free book and it gives you a good hour, a rating on Kobo helps more than you’d think. Independent authors live or die by early reviews — they’re what makes a book visible to the next reader who’d love it. Sixty seconds of your time, no money, and it genuinely changes what happens to a small publishing operation like mine.
Never miss a release
The best way to keep up — and to get free books before anyone else — is the newsletter. New releases, early access, and the occasional behind-the-scenes note about how these books get made.
